Ahead is built to respect your privacy. This policy explains, in plain language, what information the app uses, where it goes, and what is — and isn't — done with it.
Ahead ("the app") is an independent application developed and published by an individual developer ("we", "us"). For any privacy questions or requests, contact us at the email address listed at the end of this policy.
Ahead is a personal daily-summary app. To produce your summary, it accesses the following, only after you grant permission:
If you grant access, Ahead reads recent health metrics — such as sleep, steps, resting heart rate, and active energy — to include a brief wellness recap in your summary. This data is read on your device and is used solely to generate your summaries.
If you grant access, Ahead reads your reminders so they can be reflected in your summary.
Your first name and preferences (such as your typical workday) are stored locally on your device only.
Where this is stored: All of the above is processed on your device and stored locally (in the app's on-device storage). Ahead does not operate any database or server that retains your calendar, email, health, reminder, or profile data.
Ahead's core feature — your daily summary — is written by Claude, an AI assistant made by Anthropic, PBC ("Anthropic"). This is the only situation in which your information leaves your device.
When you generate a summary, the app sends the relevant content (calendar events, reminder titles, and a health summary) to Anthropic's commercial API so Claude can write your summary. The request passes through a lightweight relay service we operate solely to forward the request to Anthropic securely. This relay does not store or log the content of your requests — it forwards them and returns Claude's response.
You are asked to consent to this before it ever happens. The first time you set up Ahead, the app clearly explains that this data is sent to Anthropic and asks for your explicit agreement. The app will not generate a summary without your consent.
Because Ahead uses Anthropic's commercial API:
Anthropic's handling of this data is governed by Anthropic's own privacy policy and commercial terms. You can review Anthropic's practices at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
With your permission, Ahead reads your calendar events and reminders directly on your device through Apple's EventKit. This includes every calendar and reminder account you've added to iOS (iCloud, Google, Outlook, etc.) — Ahead does not sign in to those accounts itself, and uses only the event titles, dates, and reminder text to build your summary.
Signing in is optional; Ahead works without an account. If you sign in, Apple shares your name and an email address (which may be a private relay address), used only to identify your account for syncing settings across devices and restoring your subscription. We never receive your Apple password.
If you set a home location, Ahead uses it to fetch local conditions from Apple Weather (WeatherKit) for your summary's weather and clothing tip. Your location is used only for this and is never sold or shared. Weather data is provided by Apple Weather.
Ahead Plus is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple processes payment and manages the subscription — Ahead never receives or stores your card details. We receive only your subscription status to unlock Plus features.
Health data accessed through HealthKit is used solely to provide the in-app summary feature. In accordance with Apple's requirements, Ahead does not use Health data for advertising or marketing, and does not sell it or share it with data brokers. Health information is processed to generate your summary as described in Section 3 and is not otherwise stored by us.
Ahead contains no analytics, no crash-reporting SDKs, no advertising, and no third-party tracking. The app does not build a profile of you and does not track you across apps or websites.
Because your data is stored locally on your device, you can remove all of it at any time by deleting the app, or by disconnecting a data source (for example, signing out of Google) within the app. Data sent to Anthropic for summary generation is deleted by Anthropic on the short retention window described in Section 3; we do not retain copies.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.
Because Ahead stores your data locally and does not maintain server-side accounts or copies, you can exercise the core of these rights directly: disconnecting a source or deleting the app removes the data. For requests relating to data processed by Anthropic, please also see Anthropic's privacy policy. For any privacy request or question, contact us using the details below.
Ahead is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction) and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
If this policy changes materially, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide notice within the app. Continued use of Ahead after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
